Week of 6/6/11 - 6/12/11

Good morning!  This weekend was another great weekend of racing for the team.  Kelly set a half-marathon PR in San Diego, Mark completed "The Revolution" challenge in Connecticut, and Keith and Peter won some $$$ in the Coyote Chase 5K.  Check out the results page for more info.

Below is the schedule for this week's group runs:

  • Monday 6:30pm - track workout at Chantilly (workout TBD)
  • Wednesday 6:15pm - hill workout at Union Mill Giant in Clifton, VA
  • Thursday 6:30pm - Fairfax Corner loop (anyone interested?)
  • Saturday 8am - 8 mile long run (or whatever distance you prefer) heading east on W&OD trail

Happy training,

Holly

  1. Congrats to Kelly, Mark, Keith and Peter. Nice job guys!

This week's workouts may be brutal, today is supposed to one of the cooler days at a brisk 88 degrees.

  4. Kelly, Woohoo and Yippee to you as well. Congrats on the PR! You guys are some serious Rock 'n' rollers. You need to post a picture of all the medals at the end of the year.

  5. Good Job last weekend everyone!

Signed up for the July 4th race this morning... Now all I need are a few more of Peter's track workouts and I'm ready :)

  8. Well...Peter and I ran one 1/2 mile hill run and then ran for shelter. WAY TOO HOT!!! Finished my day with 4 mile progression run at the gym. Going to run the mile this weekend at the PVTC track meet in Falls Church.

  9. Tonight's run still at 6:30 or did it get pushed back?

  10. You guys want to meet a little later to avoid a little of this crazy heat?

  11. I'm good for whenever, just let me know what the final decision is - Weather Channel says 80% chance of storms around 8 though

  12. Justin! You learned to post!!! You guys are insane. I ran this morning because I did not think anyone would be crazy enough to run in 100 degree temps. Got my 5 miles in at 5:30 am! Enjoy the run guys. See you on Saturday.

  13. You decide! Mark said he's only running if we go to Burke Lake and run in the shade, but I think that would make a muddy mess unless we get there in time to beat the rain (which is always an option). I'm really up for whatever though. I can go run right now in my neighborhood, or I can meet at Fairfax Corner at 6:30 or 7pm, or at Burke Lake anytime.

  14. Keith, I am glad to know that you are human! And Bob, I cannot believe you were up and running at 5:30am. I hardly know you anymore! :-)

  15. I have signed up for the Let Freedom Run 5k. Now we need to make sure the rest of the teamates sign up. Remember that the price goes up on 6/13.

  16. Heading over to watch Keith do the mile this Sunday at the PVTC meet.

Mark, that was an amazing back to back performance, I'm adding you to the "not human" category!

Kelly, another PR in the half, well done!

George & I are also signed up for the Let Freedom Run 5K.

Fast Rogue Racers be sure to sign up so this is just a social event for me.

  18. Wow!! I'm ready to go out and get some spikes. The mile is such a rush. 5:08 was slower than I hoped but with heat and humidity at the rediculous level I'm happy. Thanks to Peter for videotaping the event and posting it on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xI7xrrwwE4). For those of you with anxiety about running the mile or any other track event just go do it. There were 2 heats for the mile with the first being 5:25/mile or better and the second being 5:25/mile or slower. Tons of first time runners in the second heat. I plan on being there again in 2 weeks. I ran in the Saucony Hattoris and really have to question whether spikes would be better or not.
See everyone at the track tomorrow night!
