Week of 10/24/11 - 10/30/11

Next weekend is the Goblin Gallop 5K.  Please register online by Thursday, October 27th to be included as part of the team.  Kids can be registered on the team as well.  Use "Rogue Racers" when prompted for the team name, and "organization" when asked for the team type.  Kelly and I will be going to packet pick-up on Friday and would be happy to grab your packet and bring it to the Saturday morning run at the W&OD trail.  Please let us know via the blog by Thursday evening if you would like us to get your packet for you.

Also, we have several team members running the Marine Corps Marathon on the same morning.  In sticking with tradition, there will be a post-MCM lunch at Rio Grande when the marathoners make their way back to Fairfax.  Please let us know if you plan to attend... everyone is invited.

  1. I guess everyone is posting on FB now! I thought this team would get a little more pumped for The Goblin Gallop and be posting all sorts of stuff.

  2. I'm not a Facebooker. I kind of like to be more anonymous so I'll post here. I'm still trying to recover from vacation so I can stumble through the Goblin Gallop and Savannah Half Marathon. I need some motivation and energy. All advice welcome since these races cannot be run in CA.

  3. Keith, I'm not a big facebooker either. Definitely with you on that. You looking for some races pretty soon?

  4. I'm going to do the Goblin as a last day of speedwork and then head down to Savannah for the marathon (1/2 if the weather stinks). I'm hoping the music will help with getting through the marathon. The next weekend is the last race of the Racepacket series. Unfortunately, it is a metric marathon and the legs are not going to get a lot of rest.
Looking forward to finishing these longer races and getting back to the short distance speedwork and 5k to 10k races.
Kelly, you've got to be motivated by the food in Savannah. Once that race is over I'm going to look for the best tasting shrimp and grits I can find. Hello Paula Dean. Can anyone say Butter y'all!

  10. this morning they showed the storm making a sharp right turn back toward Florida, I'm guessing that's changed???

I guess the "Well at least you were out there" motto doesn't work so well if referencing your presence in a hurricane

  11. Oh Bob that sucks majorly.
You can come over and sit in our sauna. and I'll shine a flashlight in your face. Sorry Mai-An but that is not a safe option for you. I can spritz you with salt water instead.

  12. Kelly...that is awesome, I may have to take you up on it some day :).

Well, this vacation was ruined, but luckily we did get our money back. We'll be taking a long weekend trip to Miami in mid November to make up for it. Won't be the same, but it should be nice.

  13. I'm going to skip out on the run tomorrow. I can handle snow, but I can't handle cold rain. Sorry!

But, I'll see everyone bright and early on Sunday morning. Kelly and I are going to set up the Rogue Racers tent on the plaza at Fairfax Corner around 7:30am. Feel free to come out early and keep up company. :-)

  18. This weather is crazy! I can't believe it's snowing this much for our first snowfall...especially in October. It may be a long winter RogueRacers.

    Good luck tomorrow.
