Hey guys, Mark and I are going to sign up for Shamrock in March. I think he's going to do the full and I'm going to do the half. We've already booked a hotel room. Anyone else interested in running one of the Shamrock races?
I have to check with the boss lady to see if she wants to run the half or marathon. I might run the 8k or half if she wants to go. Signed up for Boston yesterday so no marathon between Savannah and Boston for me.
I shall repeat Go Keith!! Oh have you read the book Flat Stanley? If you follow whatever he did--eating citrus or apple at night during an electrical storm--maybe you can get your wish and be paper thin like Flat Stanley.
The apple definitely works. Eat one before dinner and you're likely only going to want one serving. Ice cream craving is the only problem I'm having right now. Nothing works as well as a few 70 mile weeks in a row!
Took one day off and ran 42 over the past three days to ensure a 70 mile week. Good 16 miler today with 1st 8 at 58:45 and last 8 at 54:30. Columbia metric marathon is next week and I hope to maintain 6:15 or better on that hilly beast. Weight is now down to 144. I think 135 out lower by November is now achievable. I really miss my usual junk food and beer.
Oh this hip. Can't quite get rid of my adductor pain. Will run 1 to 2 miles and just get a sharp spasm that lasts for a little while then goes away. Got 68 for the week including a 5th overall at the Columbia Metric Marathon. Was able to maintain 6:28/mile pace which I will take for now. Would like to be in the 6:10 range for Savannah. Going to take it easy this week then get 4 to 5 straight weeks of 65 to 75 mile weeks in before the marathon. I'm going to have nightmares about the hills at the Metric marathon for weeks now. That race is so tough. Week 38 = 68 YTD = 1684.5
Hip somewhat better after a shoe change. 2nd in a 5k yesterday and a fast 18 with Doug today (first 9 in 67 and last 9 in 61). I'm now signed up to run with team Centreville for the Jackson 5k. See you guys next weekend!
Kelly- I hope so! Can't wait for this Marathon. First month of pain free running since around Steamtown last year. Hope you guys are well and ready for Savannah. Week 43- 71 miles including the best 20 mile long run I've ever completed. YTD-2018.5
Keith you could have won the Goblin Gallop this year. No one showed up. Only about 630 started the race. As for Savannah I will be happy to cross the finish line. I have been super lazy. I haven't run more than 5 miles since the end of August.
Kelly - That'll be a good way to jump start your running again. I saw the results and was bummed to not race but I really needed another long run. I'm looking forward to 5k and indoor track after the marathon.
Ran 56.5 miles for week 44. YTD = 2075 Ran 88.5 miles between Wed 23rd and Wed 30th. Good 12 miler at 6:41/mile pace yesterday with last couple of miles in 6:20 range. Looking forward to Savannah then coming back and focusing on the 5k and the mile in the winter and Boston in the spring.
Yeah! My official PR for my 6k is 27:21 and my PR for the 2-mile is 13:06. In the last 6k race I ran, if I didn't have to pull out then I would have finished under 26:30.... next season! For those that didn't know, my 2-mile in August was 15:09... so compared to my November 2-mile posted above I am over two minutes faster!
Week 46: 30 miles. Recovery week of sorts. Did a speed workout with the fellas on Wednesday (6 x1000 meters) and won the Project Infusion 5k yesterday. Two days off this week. Slowly get back to it next week to prepare for Turkey trotting. YTD: 2158
Week 47: Picking up the mileage again with 43 this week ( might go for another 3 to 4 tonight). Doing a lot of 5k specific speedwork but the weather hasn't been great at my races lately. Placed 2nd to Mike Wardian at the Kinhaven 5k. Tough headwinds and 28 degree temps made it too hard to go for a PR. Ran first 2 miles in a relatively slow 11:43 and cranked out the last 1.1 to finish in 17:54(?). Hopefully Thanksgiving will bring us some good running weather. YTD: 2201
Week 48: 50 miles. Been in a 5k mood lately. Placed 5th at the Freedom Turkey trot in Manassas in 17:24. First sub 17:30 since I ran 17:08 on the same course back in January. I also ran the Snowflake 5k today in 18:05 to win it a day after running a challenging 15 miler on the battlefield. Looking forward to working on shorter distances for the next 4 to 6 weeks then the training for Boston begins. YTD:2251
November- 62.02 It's been a rough month with the beginning being tapered, then my off "season" and illness. Started out December right with a nice 7 mile run so I should be back at it soon enough!
I should figure out what my YTD is... but I have to look on my phone for months like April- the beginning of July and that's a lot of work. I'll figure it out by the end of this month!
Week 49: no more races until the frozen 5k. Going to keep my mileage in the 45 to 55 range with 1 to 2 speed workouts per week and one long run. Mid-January begin cranking it up for Boston. Going to try something new and build up to 2 to 3 100+ Mile weeks in March. This week=43.5 miles YTD= 2294.5 (can still get >2500)
Kelly-I'm going to enjoy these shorter weeks until then. Lots of core strengthening and weights. Another 43.5 this week with a lot of it on the treadmill. Had 2 good speed workouts outside. YTD = 2338

Will try to post once this week. Week 51: 50 miles. YTD: 2388. Won't reach 2500:( but happy with a decent 2013. Good week this week with more miles and two workouts. Merry Christmas everyone and here's to a great 2014 for all the Rogue Racers!
