- What day works best for the track workouts? Monday or Tuesday.
- When do you want to start? This week, next week, etc.
- Who will make harder track workouts for us? Peter or Keith. :-)
Tomorrow (Saturday) we have a couple of exciting things going on. Keith and Peter will be running in the Manassas Runway 5K/10K. Everyone needs to think FAST thoughts for Keith. He needs to achieve less than a 36:50 to get a second qualifying time to be ranked by the Washington Running Report. Be sure to wish both him and Peter good luck! For those not racing tomorrow, we will meet at the W&OD trail at 8am for the normal Saturday run. I think that we will have two groups, a four mile group and a six mile group. Hope many people can make it out.
If you haven't had a chance to look at our race calendar recently, I have added many new races to the schedule. On July 4th there is a new race in Fairfax Corner that can be run as a team race. The inaugural Let Freedom Run 5K would allow us to put our ten fastest 5K'ers onto a team and the fastest four times would count towards the actual group competition (with at least one time being male and one time being female). Let me know if you are interested, and I will form officially form the team (this has to be done prior to registration). Then we can compile the fastest men's/women's times and hopefully go for our first Rogue Racers team win. I don't know if this is incentive, but they are giving out a trophy!

Lastly, I want to introduce everyone to our newest Rogue Racer. Many people had the chance to meet Bob at the Race for Hope DC last week. If you didn't meet him, you might have heard rumor of the crazy TEAM BT barefoot runner. Check out Bob's profile on our 2011 team roster page.
Happy training,
Holly
I vote for Monday nights at 6:30pm starting ASAP!
ReplyDeleteMonday nights--the later the better.
ReplyDeleteFirst, Good Luck Keith and Peter on your run tomorrow. I hope you both get the times you need. I think the track workout days really don't matter to me as long as there are no other activities happening at the track. Tuesday's are fine with me but I can change and do Mondays. We can start whenever you guys want to start. Maybe we can alternate between Chantilly and Centreville High? Just a thought.I am interested in the Let Freedom Run 5k but I don't know if I am as fast as Keith, Peter, Mark and George. I can always try. Anyway, I hope this is enough information for everyone to make a decision.
ReplyDeleteMonday works better for me. Soccer practice Tues nights 6-7 thru June. I say start asap... Get my lazy a** in gear!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Keith and Peter!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Bob!
Track survey response:
1) It doesn't matter to me, but I usually have swimming on Monday and when several of us start marathon training at the end of the summer, Tuesday would give us an additional day of recovery after our weekend long run.
2) It doesn't matter to me.
3) Keith and Peter should compete for it each week, but the competition should not be a foot race. I was thinking maybe a dance off for the first week ...
Thanks Mark! I'm excited to start training with you guys and get my butt whooped into shape.
ReplyDeleteSurvey response:
1. Mondays work best for me, but Tuesday can work too...so I don't really care.
2. I can train this coming week, but I'm out the next 2 weeks on vacay. We leave on Wednesday.
3. I have no clue, but my bet is that these dudes are fast. I like Mark's idea of the dance off!
1. either works, i'll probably come sporadically once I begin working.
ReplyDelete2. i'll be gone until the 16th but I will just complete the workout here at home.
3. Peith. haha! BOTH will make hard track workouts b/c they are both fast as lightning.
PS. It looks like i'm definitely going to be in Arlington this summer; I start at lululemon ASAP! :-) yaaaay!
See you all soon!
Leah :-)
so I just ran the hilliest 10 miles ever. I finished in about 1:26:58..it really, really hurt, but I did it!! Hope your runs were spectacular!
ReplyDeleteSee you guys on the 22nd!
I hope that the Manassas Runway 10k finds my chip time. Placed 3rd overall (36:25) but during the awards ceremony they announced someone else and couldn't find my time. Would like to thank Peter and Edi Turco (1st place overall) who stayed until the end of the awards ceremony to vouch for me. I swear they were saying bad stuff about me in Italian.
ReplyDeleteTrack survey response:
1) Monday or wednesday is best for me.
2) 6:30ish
3) Peter is a better dancer.
Also, Peith was sort of a nickname in PT school after one of my drunk classmates lost the ability to pronounce her k's and kept calling me Peith.
Way to go Peter! 3rd overall in 18:00 at the runway 5k.
ReplyDeleteTrack on either Monday or Tuesday is ok for me.
ReplyDeleteStarting this week is fine.
I refuse to choose between Keith & Peter.
Keith that is just cruel of them for dropping your time. They should have had a person spotting the top finishers as well. Did they have a photographer at the finish line because that could be your proof.
ReplyDeleteGreat job & can't wait for them to fix their error.
They're trying to figure out what happened and are hopefully going to correct the results. The race director e-mailed me right away and said that they have new timing equipment and he is going to discuss the problems with the equipment company. It was a good time no matter what. How many races are videotaped via helicopter? It was wild to be running and having that thing going back and forth. It also made me realize that I need to get in more speedwork to be competitive in my age group. Very happy that we will be getting the group back to the track again.
ReplyDeleteMonday
ReplyDeleteStart right away.
P.S. - We started doing 1/2 mile hill intervals well, those are really helping.
Leah, way to go on your very hilly run! Peter and Keith, you guys are just amazing! I hope that they get the times fixed soon! :-)
ReplyDeletepeter, come va il tuo italiano? e' proprio da tanto che non parlo con qualcuno...auguri dal tuo 18:00...che veloce! Voi di Fairfax avete le gambe di cavalli!
ReplyDeletealso...i'm going to be stuck up at inova fairfax for my 8 week rotation...what track are you all going to be at? maybe i can join in after my shifts...
keith, type As again? if so, you should seriously consider taking those shoes out to dinner for the good job they are doing.
ReplyDeleteAdam,
ReplyDeleteThe type As have been great (they have a special parking spot in my closet). I'm going to head over to the VA Runner in Clifton next weekend to check out the Hattori and the Kinvara 2.
We usually go over to the Chantilly H.S. track but will go to Fairfax H.S. when Chantilly's field is in use. It would be great to see you out there. Also, Peter and I will post some of our other training runs so that you (and anyone else who wants) can come out and train with us.
Results were posted on runwashington.com without me in them so I am thinking of signing up for the Capitol Hill Classic 10k next Sunday. Still waiting to see if the race director will make the correction in the next day or two. Let me know if anyone wants to run. Looks like a flat and fast course.
ReplyDeleteKeith, I'll work with James Moreland to get your Run Washington numbers corrected once the web site is updated. Hopefully this can be done before you commit to a race.
The track won't always be free but school is almost out, Keith and I run at Fairfax High as an alternate though once in a while both are occupied. I publish a schedule for the remaining part of the school year for both.
Chantilly High:
ReplyDeleteAll dates are free Monday except for May 9 and May 16 (Fairfax High is free May 16).
Centreville HS track is open both this week and next week? It is only a mile from where you guys run hills. I would be interested in meeting there this week and next week if you want?
ReplyDeleteVery Cool!!! The race director was able to get the results fixed by the timing company and I ended up with a 36:22. I'm taking the weekend off from racing (not running). Also, the run at the middle school trail was pretty cool last night. Nice place for a back up to the back up to the back up for our track runs.
ReplyDeleteKeith that is GREAT NEWS. You deserve a race break. I am so glad they were able to figure it all out.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Keith, Peter, and Leah.
ReplyDeleteI prefer Tuesdays for track workouts but only get a half vote because half the time I can't get off of work in time to make the workout.
I am off to Knoxville this weekend for the Rev 3 half. So no track workout for me next Tuesday. Mark fried my quads on the bike this weekend so no track workout this week either. :)

George,
ReplyDeleteGood luck in Knoxville. Kick this triathlon season off with a good race. I heard you were going to wear Speedo briefs and the belly cut shirt for the entire race. Very aerodynamic!!
Killer hills today at New Braddock rd between Union mill rd and rt.28. I'll be meeting Peter around 6:15-6:30 at The Union Mill Giant.
ReplyDeletePeter,
OK I cry foul. I am ignorant and lazy and speak only one language, and I feel left out--mostly because I'm also nosy. Please translate.
ReplyDeleteThis is Google Translate's translation (I have a feeling it is a little off because it doesn't really make sense):
ReplyDelete"That's nice ... I read his name as an Italian Edi Turkish many times but I did not know that he spoke addirritura. Now I have to find a garra in DC to talk! I hope to do some racing with you in Fairfax this summer ... we'll see how it goes' work hospitable. cmq, hole in luck with your future races!"
BOY...that is a doosie of a translation!! LOL..
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think Google needs to work on their translation software. I think there is going to be some real good summer training/racing. Looking forward to the Let Freedom Run 5k and running as a team.
ReplyDelete"How nice. I've read his name many times as an Italian but I didn't know that he really spoke the language. Now I have to find a race in D.C. so I can talk with him. I hope to do some races with you in Fairfax this summer, I shall see how work goes in the hospital. Cmq = Abbreviation for "anyways" (IMO), into the mouth of the wolf for your future races. (Italian expression which means "good luck", reference to Romulus and Remus perhaps)."
ReplyDeleteI think that translation is wrong. I think it really says don't you think her butt looks fat!
