This morning our team placed 3rd in the Let Freedom Run 5K Co-ed Team Competition right behind the TRS Racing Team and Capital Area Runners. Thanks to Jeff, Keith, Adam and Hannah we averaged a time of 19:03. Not bad for our first team competition.
Race results are posted on our site. Congratulations to everyone!
Awesome race today-- tons of PRs and CRs :)
ReplyDeleteGreat race everybody!! That was so much fun. The tent was great and seeing everyone wearing their RR gear was cool.
ReplyDeleteGeorge and Kelly - Thanks for the Chobani. I'll have enough protein for another 2-3 months.
What fun today! Loved the tent and the banana bread was simply scrumptious. Picked up some $10 Ice Cream, have to stop letting Mark plant suggestions in my head!
ReplyDeleteOn a less than ideal course with very high humidity, some excellent times and PR's. Video is in 2nd stage (processing by Google), should be ready within an hour or two at most. I'll load other videos later.
Peter... Mark wants to know what ice cream flavor you went with. I talked him into salty caramel today, but he says that pistachio & honey is by far the best!
ReplyDeleteBackyard Mint. I should have tried the original flavor I was going with, not too bad but lacking in character.
ReplyDeletePS - PHOTOS ARE POSTED ON MY FACEBOOK PAGE
(some came out a little fuzzy, not sure if I had the focusing option set correctly)
Video is live, higher resolutions are still being processed but this is the link:

Awesome video-Great job everyone!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job everyone! It was much more humid and hilly than I had expected. Crazy sweaty afterwards. Congrats to all of those who got PR's!
ReplyDeleteThanks to Kelly and George for a SWEEEEET tent, water, soda's, yogurt, love, etc...
That video is awesome! Peter, I can't wait to see what a RR race would be like with the photos and video. Nice.
ReplyDeleteGO Team! Great job everyone. Enjoy the ice cream and burgers! I can't believe we took bronze. Peter's track workouts must be working.
ReplyDeleteOMG, this thing is driving me crazy. Let's try this one more time! Here are the pics I took from today's race. Sorry I did not get any pre-race pics. I don't have facebook so please feel free to forward or pass these pics along to other people. Some of the pics are acting up on the website, let me know if you can't see some of them.

Just reread my last message. How many times can you say "pics" in one paragraph?!?! Horrible.
ReplyDeleteBob,
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing with the self criticism! Going to check out the "pics" now.
In our own race we could mount a camcorder slightly higher and dead center for the best view, have to figure out how to do that...maybe suspend me from a crane.
Bob,
ReplyDeleteThose photos are great! Can't wait for April to come back from shopping so I can show them to her.
Peter and I did a 4 mile run at the Chantilly track. Very cool to get in a run and watch the fireworks at the same time. Recommend a 4 miler on 4th evening run next year after running the Let Freedom Run 5k.
ReplyDeleteKeith, glad you liked the pictures! I think some of them turned out really great.
ReplyDeleteI went home and went for a 6.5 mile jog yesterday. A bit sore and tired today. I'm sure my 6.5 miles was at a much easier pace than your 4 miles at Chantilly.
Keith and I will be out on the track this evening around 8:45 P.M., planning 6-8 miles (how fast tbd).
ReplyDeleteBob, great pictures, some were quite artistic!
You're welcome to join Keith and I anytime....
Hey Rogue Racers...just checking the blog now.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Bob!
It was a really fun day yesterday!! The kids loved it. Mackenzie's quads are sore today.
Thanks to Mackenzie and Finn's running partners - Kelly & Mark. A special thank you for Kelly, George and Holly for all their hard work with putting up the tent, having Ice towels & goodies. SO thoughtful... ;-)
@Peter
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I won't be able to join you guys tonight. Doing swim lessons on Tuesdays nights. Seeing if I can pick it up well enough to start and do Tri's. Have a good run though.
@Nancy
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked them.
Our video of the race made it on to the runwashington.com site, they posted a link without any prompting.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I was looking to see if the photos were posted and saw the link to your video. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI've been on Facebook and have seen several people posting links to your video.
ReplyDeleteAnyone still up for running somewhere tonight?
ReplyDeleteHey Justin, I'm thinking about doing a 10 mile run today. Slow pace though. Legs are sore from the run a couple days ago, and the swim yesterday. Why is it that I'm always sore?!?! Anyways, let me know if you'd like to meet up and run together. I'm thinking about maybe 9 miles. I just want to start logging in some miles.
ReplyDeleteYou are hard core Bob, run club, bike club, now swimming.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I want to run somewhere, Holly mentioned Monday maybe doing a trail run/long run in place on Saturday since we are doing the track meet Saturday. I could probably do a long run at low pace (I dunno about 10 miles though, most I've been so far is 8)
If the storms blow over Peter and I will be at the track around 6:30 putting in some miles (5-6 I think). At the end (if I can still run) I'll be putting on the spikes to break them in some more.
ReplyDeleteGotta do all 3 if I ever want to get into Tri's! I'm definitely going to run tonight. 10 miles may seem long, but it's definitely doable. If you've done 8, you can do 10. Before last week, my longest run was slightly over 9. Let me know. Text me if you'd like.
ReplyDeleteI smell a healthy addiction..."if you've done 8, you can do 10".
ReplyDeleteBeing sore all the time is a good sign Bob, when I was in the most pain my times were dropping like lead weights in a feather bed.
Well, I couldn't talk Hannah in to running (sorry Bob and Keith, something about it being too hot...), but I did the 2.1 mile loop around our neighborhood. Little over 17 minutes, so I was happy with that (last time I ran that same loop was October 2010 and it took me about 23 minutes, THANKS ROGUE RACERS for the encouragement to run!!!)
ReplyDeleteps- Holly, you should be working on your project, not reading the blog ;)
Bob showed up for Peter's tough "top secret" workout. Bob and I did about 2 miles warm up until Peter got there. Then did the special top secret strengthening exercise, 800m warm up, 4 mile tempo and finished with an 800m cool down. I added an 800m in the spikes to break them in some more. Good run!
ReplyDeleteLol Keith, way to drum up excitement.
ReplyDeleteIt was great having Bob come out, Keith and I were getting tired of each other...haha.
Bob, just to give you an idea on the progress that we talked about, going from 23 to 21 can be pretty quick with good training:
12/31/2009 Festival of Lights 5k 23:27.60
1/3/2010 Brats Frozen 5k 22:36.22
1/17/2010 Potomac Valley Track Club Meet 23:38.00
2/21/2010 Potomac Valley Track Club Meet 22:55.40
2/28/2010 Love the Run You're With 5k 22:15:00
3/7/2010 Run for Haiti 5k 21:05.50
Justin...
ReplyDeleteProject = DONE!
Congrats Holly- enjoy your last day at clinical
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith and Peter for kicking my butt last night. The last 400 on the tempo run was a killer, glad that Peter had enough steam to run it with me.
ReplyDeleteBTW Peter, legs feel good today. I brought my workout clothes. Will hit the treadmill during lunch and do a few sprints. Not the same as running outside, but I don't have time to go out tonight after work.
Keith,
ReplyDeleteSee you on the track tonight, I know you'll be out later. I'll get an earlier start (8:30 ish) as I need mileage to burn this stubborn fat off and make the goal weight I set back in 09'.
